San Francisco Focus, premier arbiter of all food tastes and trends in the Bay Area, has recognized Le Soleil for a variety of feats. Upon opening, the magazine featured Le Soleil to introduce its food and flair to the world. The restaurant also earned recognition as one of the "Critics' Top Picks" in San Francisco. Recently, San Francisco Focus bestowed the honor of Best Vietnamese during the "San Francisco Focus:13th Annual Chef Focus." Standing alone, the numerous awards from San Francisco Focus establish Le Soleil's place in culinary standing.
The premier society for maintaining and promoting culinary excellence around the United States, "Les Amis d'Escoffier Society," recognized Le Soleil and its Chef, as Master of Food and Beverage. This honor, not bestowed lightly, celebrates restaurants and chefs that continue traditions of professional culinary standards, innovative cuisine, and leadership of excellence in gastronomic establishments.
Within months of opening, word of Le Soleil spread throughout the San Francisco area and its environs. Features and awards poured in. The San Francisco Chronicle proclaimed LeSoleil as a place of "Food and Family Warmth to Savor." The edgier Marin Independent Journal also featured Le Soleil's delicious food and upscale atmosphere, thus proclaiming LeSoleil as a "place to be." Not to be outdone by its neighbor, SF Weekly Magazine, another alternative community paper, advises that Le Soleil's "Bright, fresh flavors lend refined appeal to classics. . ."
Every great restaurant must captivate its neighbors, luring them in time and again for familiar and new treats. The Richmond Review quickly prompted a neighborhood stampede when it featured Le Soleil in 1998. Even music club "The Independent" featured Le Soleil as a top pick for tasty eats before a show. The neighborhood secret was out, and diners came running.
